Working with 5 year old pre verbal boy with autism to build interaction and communication. This job is all about play therapy and sensory integration, be that in the home, in the park or on the trampoline. Interactive play sessions would be planned initially by the parent to help build the relationship and could later be planned out by the carer. As things progress we can then move to include taking the client out and about locally e.g. to the park, cinema, soft play, the deep, etc. The PA would be helping the client practice daily independent communication. Using gestures, basic communication, using speech device in public. Client has some physical care needs relating to delayed fine motor skills. Otherwise he is a happy, smiley little boy who needs help to come out of his world..

 

 

Any Experience or Qualifications Required?

Experience or qualifications in autism or special needs an advantage but not essential. The PA should be calm, positive and committed. Should be able to put fair positive boundaries in place, and be able to work on their own initiative.

 

Rate of Pay

£10/hour (expense allowance for outings at later stage)
